Two popular magicians are Penn & Teller, they have a TV show, made some games, and a bunch of other stuff. I had seen a bit of the TV show, so when Penn & Teller VR was announced, I was interested. So, is Penn & Teller VR any good?
Penn & Teller VR is a game that has you preforming tricks and pranking friends. You start the game greeted by Penn & Teller as they give a speech about the game, you are then greeted to a menu that lets you select any mini-game you want. You can play games where you trick another player, or games where you play by yourself. The games that have you tricking another playing have you being taught how to pull off the trick, then putting your friend in the headset and preforming it. And then most of the single player games aren’t given a tutorial.
Only a few of the friend tricking games worked for me, most of them are either too predictable or can only work in very specific situations. I even ran into a game where it didn’t work at all. There are a few fun moments in the games that work, but you have to sit through several minutes of tutorials to preform them. It just seemed like a waste of time for me and my friend.
As for the single player games, I enjoyed them a lot more. Games like the Houdini trick or the glass cleaner game are pretty creative and were fun. But the problem with them is that they’ll only last 2-6 minutes, and they have no replay-ability. The replay-ability really comes in showing it to other players.
So overall, Penn & Teller is just ok. A good amount of the mini-games just aren’t fun or take too much time to pull off, there is some creativity here, but it’s just not worth playing. I would only recommend this if you have a lot of friends and get this for really cheap.
